before my short shoot with my friend catherine,

she took me to a ramen spot in echo park that blew me away.

seriously, i think this place is way better than daikokuya in little tokyo,

but that's just me.

she got the vegetable ramen

i got the spicy chicken tonkatsu ramen,

and because i'm a fatass i made mine a combo

and it came with

a small salad with their own dressing

and a spicy tuna bowl (a choice among three)

and since it's another gray day,

i think i'll go there again for some damn good noodles.

tried ray's for the first time last week before the 3MG show.

the food and ambience is great and the customer service is superb!

sourdough bread and butter with chives to start off.

cream of mushroom with chives, crispy potatoes and goat cheese.

i forgot what this pizza was called but it had mushrooms, sage and truffle cheese.

lamb tongue with lettuce, crispy potatoes and a dijon mustard based sauce.

good microbrew & grill part two

this tuesday i had lunch with my older brother steven over at good microbrew & grill in silverlake before we went camera shopping for him (he copped the D7000, sooo jealous). it's always fun spending time with him and i'm sad that he moved so far away earlier this year (granada hills, where the fuck is that?! lol).

i got the florentine benedict with potatoes o'brien, sooo delicious!

he got the bruschetta omlette with tomatoes, mmm..

it was a beautiful day and we both wanted to enjoy the sun while we ate. very good choice of place, on steven's part, plus i got to try more of their food than just their burgers! as usual, we were pretty loud compared to the rest of the customers... we just know how to have fun! i'm so happy that all my friends share my love for food and laughter =)

So, remember my disconnected rant a few days about how I needed a getaway and to see new things? Well, I didn't exactly get dropped off in the middle of France or anything, but Sean and I spent our Saturday over at The Getty in LA. Well, it's not really in LA...it's more in the Beverly Hills/Brentwood area (big money, oh-ho). I was pretty excited because I haven't really been there since I was twelve.

chado tea room, little tokyo.

sean and i went to chado tea room in little tokyo last sunday (oct. 2) while biking around dtla...

we went from our house to chinatown (dim sum picnic for brunch!), olvera street, and made a stop here.

honestly, it seems like our place of choice is little tokyo as of late.

sushi gen, little tokyo.

the night before my birthday, sean and i looked for a new sushi spot to try for my pre-birthday dinner, one that was closer to where we lived since for sushi we've been going to pasadena (sushi roku) and san marino (yoshida's). after a few minutes perusing through yelp, we decided to try sushi gen, in little tokyo. honestly, it's the best place we've been to yet, and i wish i could start my morning off with their toro sashimi (soooo good!). (thank you, love, for this awesome experience!)

i've been meaning to share these with everyone but i never got around to it.

i recently went to a greek restaurant named papa cristo's in my neighborhood.

the place has been around for a while--it's a little deli/store/bakery plus eatery

and in all my life i've never enjoyed the food there, with the exception of their superb baguettes.

so, we kind of had a double-lunch-date to try the place out.
