queen of procrastination

these days i'm always having to catch up with stuff
like my 2D design color theory midterm-project
(that got blown away in the wind on monday -__-),
all those pictures of joshua tree i wanted to post up,
and editing the photos from past shoots that i haven't touched..

school and work has kind of cluttered my mind as well as..

oh, you know..

in my next life, i hope i can be the wind
free, flowing and at times a force to be reckoned with
lightly caressing all those living, kissing their skin with a cool breeze
and carrying the familiar scent of a lover long forgotten as i dance through sun-streaked hair

used books

i went to one of my favorite used book stores, which i now live very close to (thanks to the recent move into a new place) and i went ahead and indulged. i absolutely love this place, and i bought most of these books for less than a dollar (heaven, if you ask me).

first day of school.

Hi, all.

I haven't been consistent, I know. This month's been a busy one--my time's been taken up by a new job (on top of more hours at LACMA), birthdays of loved ones and, best of all, school. Today was the first day of Spring semester over at Pasadena City College and I'm totally in love with the campus as well as my Modern Drama professor (English 57). I just hope that despite the budget cuts and the overcrowded classrooms, I'll be able to add the math class I need (ugh, math).

It's been almost two years since I've been in an official classroom setting--I didn't realize how much I missed it until I sat there among 20+ individuals, going over the class syllabus with the professor. And, yeah, the commute's kind of far (an hour and a half via Metro), but what else is new? In the end it's totally worth it. I seriously love how Pasadena City College really care about the academic success of their students. They pay more attention than CSULA, that's for sure.

nabokov.

i've been neglecting a lot of things because of this here book.
this is my latest read and i can't quite put it down, even though it's not really for the faint of heart.

i can't wait to finish it so i can finally watch stanley kubrik's interpretation of it.

oh, and my phone broke yesterday. i'm so kawawa.
i had super epic pictures to load for my monthly camera-phone adventure update.

anway, i have a lot of goodies i've been working on:

the latest navales-song writing exercise,
plus a few interviews i have to transcribe,
came in contact with a lot of artists for an interview...

i just, again, need to learn how to manage my time a little better.

tanabata festival, little tokyo.

yesterday, sean and i went on a random adventure in little tokyo and we chanced upon the tanabata festival while waiting to be seated at shabu shabu house (the best spot for shabu shabu, by the way). as explained in the picture above, people write their wishes on tanzaku paper and hang them onto trees (entwined in bamboo) with other decorations. we both took the time to read the wishes people wrote down and it definitely gave me an intimate look into their anonymous lives. some of them even got me a little teary...

kaimonet workshop.

my lovely friend kai had her first workshop over the weekend
and made feather necklaces that turned into headbands.

i went over to take some pictures and hang out with a few of my favorite people.

gold shoes.

ten dollar gold shoes i wore on the way to meet my friend kat, taken on the bus.

allen & amoeba.

i almost forgot i had these pictures.
hung out with my friend allen on a random day.
i like to spontaneously call him up to hang out and do nothing.

we do that quite well.

we went to in-n-out.
went to amoeba (i fucking love that place).
then kinda crashed urban outfitters to break my heart.

08292011.

today's gonna be a productive one!
made a habit of writing lists for the day since highschool.
keeps my cluttered mind organized, and it really helps to keep me motivated.

so, here's today's list:

note my gangster all-caps handwriting, lol

i'm not sure if i'll be posting them daily though, haha.
but yes, i'll be heading over to pcc in a bit with my friend noah,
trying to get my life back on track and start school again after two years.

i don't know if i should stick to my english literature major
or go with art history again. hmm. so many decisions to make!

& i got a staff position for new world color just last friday.
i used to intern for mainframe (ceo & music producer for the label),
then we became friends and i disappeared off the face of the music industry..
now i'm back writing bios and album descriptions and press releases for him via label.

super excited to be back on my grind.
i was dying of unproductiveness/quarter life crisis (though i'm not close to 25 yet).

stay tuned, for i shall have interesting updates.
it's always crazy with the nwc fam, ahlwaiyze.

hannah song, it's about that time.

boone gallery blues.

it's not really the blues, but it sounds cool to say.
i'm a gallery facilitator here at the boone gallery, over at lacma.
sometimes it gets really dull, a little too familiar, routine.
but the people i work with make it really fun to spend inside the dim-lit place.

here's a little peek into the things i see at work.

just outside, these conservationists work on a 900(?) year old korean buddhist monk painting.

feng-shui.

i did it again.
i cleaned my room.
rearranged it too.

it. took. seven. hours.

and, of course, i took before & after pictures =)

anti-insomnia & retro cameras.

I've been given many gifts this month and I've very thankful for them and the friends who have shown me love.

The cover reads: "I CAN'T SLEEP, A journal for passing the time when insomnia strikes and my brain is circling in on itself, cannibalizing the trivialities of the day and exaggerating the ticking of the clock, reminding me that every minute spent awake is another minute closer to when I'll have to get up, though many of the great artists and sages were insomniacs and that's part of how they got so much done, so if I can't sleep I might as well write and channel my misery into something productive."

I want to thank Melissa de Mata for the journal she gave me when we met for the first time this Tuesday. It's a journal to write in whenever my archenemy insomnia (oh, how familiar a-face you are) strikes and I'm absolutely in love with it. I was kind of shocked since I came across it online and kind of pined for it and then BAM! She hands it to me after a hug over at Campos before we headed to Gyu Kaku.

If you guys didn't know, Miss de Mata is a fellow writer and photographer, and SF editor, of Light Meets Night. I actually wouldn't have been added to the team if it weren't for her (and yes, I just met her, after many text messages, LMN Skype meetings and phone conversations). For that, I thank her, and for the journal I am so grateful. As I've told you before, expect something from me very soon!

nami.

i went over my good friend noah's house the other day
and was pleasantly surprised by his cat, nami.
they thought he was a girl-cat but turned out his "coin purse" dropped, haha.
i don't really like cats, they're fickle and seemingly bipolar,
not to mention the fact that i'm allergic to them,
but i was definitely spellbound by this siamese cat's eyes.

i love mail.

saw this in the mailbox and was super excited to open it.
