i love baseball.

last night, i went to go see a dorsey high vs. locke high baseball game with a few friends.
my best friend gee's cousin, boogie, plays on the varsity team as shortstop (my fave position)
and i thought i'd go after work in support of the game and of the team.

untitled poem.

i was once his best kept secret,
and he was once my biggest mistake,
heartless words to describe a heartbreaking situation.

it seems so odd, so surreal,
that we should be where we're at now,
as if the tainted past was nonexistent.

i won't deny that it's been hard,
forgiving his mistakes,
because i have once made them too,
and to move past the hurt,
for it is a bad habit of mine to dwell.

he's been trying, his intentions are evident,
they are not reluctant poisonous words dipped in honey
as they were before--
no,
there's a change in his demeanor,
in the way he speaks to me,
looks at me,
touches me...

it's as if he's a different man,
someone i haven't had a chance to meet,
a far cry from the person he was before.

and, heavens, the way he makes me feel,
the way he makes me laugh--
he enables me to forget about my unwanted memories
of unspoken things, so long ago,
even for a fleeting moment,
which is more than i can do for myself.

and for that, i thank him,
and for that, i love him,
and i am glad that i have stayed.

with his head in my lap.

this silence of mine

...is quite unbecoming.

i'm beginning to care way too much about how someone would perceive my writing and that's ultimately the biggest reason why i haven't been updating consistently. i used to blog about anything and everything, but now i find myself second-guessing the topics of my posts and end up neglecting all this entirely. i'm thinking too much about certain pairs of eyes that i know check back and read this blog when i really should just throw out a big 'fuck it' and keep doing what i do.

so this post is just that. a big

fuck it, i'm gonna write what i want to write, fuck what you think.

the stoning of soraya m.

"The voices of women do not matter here. I want you to take my voice with you."

It's been a while since I came across such an all-around powerful movie.
Imagery.
Dialogue.
Theme.
Everything.
The Stoning of Soraya M. evoked so many emotions..
Not to mention the fact that the acting was great.
Shohreh Aghdashloo's performance is so moving!
& James Caviezel (yes, Jesus Christ from Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ) is one of my favorite actors.

Anyway.

You'd be a fool to dismiss this movie.
